Trailer Tuesday vol. 29: Documentaries galore! + Fan, Finding Dory, and Angry Birds!

This week I’ve been loving the documentaries. Whether it’s about our planet Earth, human disorders, or mysteries to be solved, there is something for all docu-interests. In fact, the documentaries make up half of the trailers in this volume of Trailer Tuesday. This week shall be known as… Half-Docu week! Catchy, right?…

Ehem. The other half of the list consists of a crazy fan in Fan (who could have guessed?), and two big up-coming animations, Finding Dory and The Angry Birds Movie. Let Half-Docu week begin!

1. Fan
When it is released? 15th Apr 2016 (UK and USA)
Who is distributing it? Yash Raj Films (UK and USA)

2. Borderline
When it is released? 25th Feb 2016 (Big Sky Documentary Film Festival, USA)
Who is distributing it? Independent
What is it about? Regina has a Borderline Personality Disorder diagnosis. The first time she tried to kill herself, she was five years old. Now she’s 45 and hell-bent on trying to live – most of the time.

3. The Angry Birds Movie
When it is released? 13th May 2016 (UK), 20th May 2016 (USA)
Who is distributing it? Sony Pictures (UK and USA)
What is it about? Adaptation of the popular mobile game takes us to an island populated entirely by happy, flightless birds – or almost entirely. In this paradise, Red (Jason Sudeikis, We’re the Millers, Horrible Bosses), a bird with a temper problem, speedy Chuck (Josh Gad), and the volatile Bomb (Danny McBride) have always been outsiders. But when the island is visited by mysterious green piggies, it’s up to these unlikely outcasts to figure out what the pigs are up to.

As her story unfolds from different perspectives, including her own, we learn about our systemic failure to protect those who cannot protect themselves.
Who is in it? Lori Singer, Caitlin Murtagh, Lora Goss
Where did I find it? www.traileraddict.com/god-knows-where-i-am/trailer

It is an emotional, psychological exploration of three men wrestling with their past, the present of Europe – and conflicting versions of the truth.
Who is in it? Niklas Frank, Philippe Sands, Horst von Wächter
Where did I find it? www.traileraddict.com/what-our-fathers-did-a-nazi-legacy/trailer
What did I think? What Our Fathers Did looks like an emotional, personal film about the Holocaust, from a different point of view. If you’re interested in history or documentaries, or just people, give this a watch.

6. Tibetan Warrior
When it is released? Jan 2015 (Switzerland)
Who is distributing it? Garden Thieves Pictures (worldwide)
What is it about? The true story of one man’s fight for freedom. For more than 60 years Tibetans have been fighting Chinese oppression. But their non-violent struggle appears to be in vain. Now, as a new form of peaceful protest, Tibetans are setting themselves on fire. Loten Namling – an exiled Tibetan and musician living in Switzerland – is deeply disturbed by such self-destructive action. So he sets off from Europe to India, on a one-man mission to meet top politicians, experts and young radicals. He himself becomes increasingly radical and is on the verge of violent protest. Finally he ends up at The Office of the Dalai Lama in India to seek the advice of the exiled Tibetan leader.
