Trailer Tuesday

Trailer Tuesday vol. 31: Seeds, Bridget Jones’s Baby, X-Men, Pickle + more!

This Trailer Tuesday week is split half and half, more or less: The first half boasts some big names, such as Now You See Me 2 and the questionable Bridget Jones’s Baby. The second half becomes much more quirky and unusual, with films about seeds and somewhat disadvantaged animals, to name a few. Now don’t go thinking I split it like that for your convenience, oh no, I’m not that organised, but maybe this will help you decide what you fancy this week!

A Beautiful Planet
Trailer Tuesday

Trailer Tuesday vol. 29: Documentaries galore! + Fan, Finding Dory, and Angry Birds!

This week I’ve been loving the documentaries. Whether it’s about our planet Earth, human disorders, or mysteries to be solved, there is something for all docu-interests. In fact, the documentaries make up half of the trailers in this volume of Trailer Tuesday. This week shall be known as… Half-Docu week! Catchy, right?…

Ehem. The other half of the list consists of a crazy fan in Fan (who could have guessed?), and two big up-coming animations, Finding Dory and The Angry Birds Movie. Let Half-Docu week begin!

1. Fan

Alice in Wonderland
The Movies Tag

The Movies Tag Q27: Top 5 actresses?

QUESTION: Top 5 actresses?
ANSWER: Some actresses from Harry Potter (of course), The Amazing Spiderman, and X-Men! Read on…

5. Jennifer Lawrence

The Hunger Games, X-Men, Silver Linings Playbook, Joy

A theme with most of the actresses on my list is that I’ve picked them with one role in particular in mind. For Jennifer Lawrence, it’s Katniss in The Hunger Games. She is natural and believable. And as with the rest of the list, she seems to have a great personality in real life too!

4. Helena Bonham Carter

Harry Potter, Alice in Wonderland, Sweeny Todd, The King’s Speech

Helena Bonham Carter is in a lot more films I’ve seen than I seem to think (if that makes sense!). While yes, she is evil in Harry Potter, I still love her acting as Bellatrix. From what I’ve seen of her, she seems to have a very professional work etiquette, even for the duties that seem like the most fun. She’s even amazing when acting like another actress who is acting! When she needs to be…

3. Emma Thompson

Harry Potter, Love Actually, Men in Black 3, Saving Mr. Banks

The first Emma on the list (there are more to come!) is Emma Thompson. Thompson is very diverse, and has a special something in her voice that just makes me adore her. Plus, I always forget that she is the one under all the costume of Professor Trelawney in Harry Potter, and as I said with Gary Oldman in the previous Movies Tag question, that’s an ideal trait for an actor.

2. Emma Stone

Easy A, The House Bunny, Superbad, The Amazing Spiderman

Emma Stone is probably the funniest actress I know! She never fails to make me laugh, but she can also play the more serious roles, which is why I love her!

1. Emma Watson

Harry Potter, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Ballet Shoes

We all know why Emma Watson is my number one. She brought Hermione to life in Harry Potter, and no-one could replace her in that role. The thing is, she’s not just a great actress, she also does a hell of a lot for women in her position with her influential voice.

Special mention: Robin Williams

When I realised I had forgotten to include Robin Williams in my top 5 actors last week I was devastated! I figured it would be okay to give him a special mention in my top 5 actresses, considering he did play a kind-of-woman in Mrs. Doubtfire 😉 I first fell in love with him in Hook. From Aladdin to Jumanji and beyond, I’ve loved every role I’ve seen
him in.

How do you feel about my choices? Let me know who your favourite actress is!

Trailer Tuesday

Trailer Tuesday vol. 25: Super Bowl madness, Get a Job, Skiptrace + more!

It has been a thrilling week for film trailers with the infamous Super Bowl commercials playing host to a whole bunch of them. I counted at least 10 TV spots and 1 trailer! There’s a lot to be excited about this week, including The Jungle Book, DemolitionIce Age 5, and more! So let’s get into it!

1. Get a Job

Where did I find it? www.youtube.com/watch?v=VOhRKseKN2E

Who is in it? Sam Claflin, Emilia Clarke, Jenna Coleman
Where did I find it? www.imdb.com/video/imdb/vi2581640473?ref_=ttvi_vi_imdb_1
Immediate thoughts? Mostly because everyone else (and by everyone I mean one of my friends) seems to be talking about it, Me Before You makes the list. Meh, it looks okay. I liked Sam Claflin in The Hunger Games so I’ll give it a chance, but you know what’s going to happen.

The Hunger Games
The Movies Tag

The Movies Tag Q4: Favourite thriller film?

QUESTION: Favourite thriller film?
ANSWER: The Hunger Games
Does The Hunger Games count as a thriller? I always find it difficult to define the genre, so I decided to Google it:
– a novel, play, or film with an exciting plot, typically involving crime or espionage.
“a tense thriller about a diamond heist that goes badly wrong”
– a very exciting contest or experience.
“a seven-goal thriller”
So, I think it’s safe to say The Hunger Games counts: excitement, a bit of crime, tension… plus IMDb says it’s a thriller, so that it must be! 😉
Again, if I had to pick just one of the four films (or three at the moment, considering the fourth doesn’t come out until November), I’d pick the first one… I think.
I can’t really pinpoint what specifically draws me to The Hunger Games. My uni friend and I were late to the Hunger Games party, and we wanted to know what all the fuss was about. We were both rather underwhelmed by the experience at first, but it only took a couple of days for it to grow on me to the point where I wanted to watch it again.
I can’t say it’s because I think the idea is original, because I saw and enjoyed Battle Royale before The Hunger Games (and you’ve got to admit they are very similar plot lines).
I do love Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss, but I don’t think that’s the reason I love the films.
Maybe, just maybe, it’s simply because it is a film franchise. Could it be possible that being a franchise automatically puts films into my good books? That’s ridiculous… nobody can love film franchises that much… or can they…

Don’t worry, I’m running out of film franchises to name as my answers, so look forward to some more specific answers for future questions!
If you love film franchises as much as I do, let me know that I’m not alone!
The Good Dinosaur
Trailer Tuesday

Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper, Dascha Polanco
Where did I find it?

I like this kind of trailer. Jennifer Lawrence’s films always seem to have similar editing on the trailers. Audio laid over separate visuals. You get an idea of the plot without revealing too much..

2. In Limbo
When it is released?

In a similar way to Joy, I like the overlay of the audio and the clips. I want to know what is going on with these children, because the trailer doesn’t give away the entire plot. Nice

3. The Good Dinosaur
